Gothic Graffiti ™ "Omnes Una Manet Nox" 8x10 on canvas
Gothic Graffiti ™ "Omnes Una Manet Nox" by Arijah Ankh Khalid-Zyn.Translates as "The same night awaits us all", from Horace, Odes 1.28.
The full quatrain is "...in your judgement he was no mean exponent of nature and truth. But for all of us, one night awaits, and the road of oblivion must be trodden once."
Ode XXVIII, the carmen or "song" of "Archytas", also known as Carmen Saeculare, or song of the ages, or secular hymn. An ode to Apollo and Diana, commissioned by Augustus Octavian in 17 BC. In this poem, night is referring to death, and that we are bound to the experiences of life, sufferings included; however there is/was (or during that time) no way out of the physical reality of death, no matter what station one may serve, death is the inevitable conclusion; the space where all are equal.
